God & The Middle East

April 14, 2018 by Dwayne Byerly Leave a Comment

Greetings in the majestic name of our Lord Jesus, the one who sets up kings and takes kings down.  Jesus and the Father are the Master Architects of world leaders and governments. There is coming a day when the governments of this world will be on Jesus’ shoulders.  In that day, a perfect rule will be established.  The people of the world will look to Jesus as their King.  He will decree all laws and judgment; His Church will help carry out the decrees. This will be the Millennium—the thousand-year reign of Christ, which begins on the last day of the Tribulation.  Oh, what a glorious day!

Until then, the Master Architects’ plan unfolds with exact precision and timing.  We see nations growing and moving into position for the culmination of the Age.  Recently, we have seen a strange alliance in the world’s eyes with the coming together of three nations in the Middle East:  Turkey, Iran, and Russia.

Turkey is the nation that seems out of place in this alliance as their views and policies do not match up with the other nations.  However, due to circumstances in Syria, and the very strong-handed rule in Turkey, Turkey is beginning to compromise their positions.

For some time now, Turkey has begun distancing itself from Western society (i.e., the European Union and the United States).  During the Gulf War in the early 1990s, Turkey (a U.S. ally) refused to allow the United States to move troops across their borders to attack Iraq, which put a strain on our relationship with them.  More recently, Turkey has been criticized for their harsh handling of those speaking out against the government—especially after the coup to overthrow their government in 2016, along with other human rights’ accusations. The reason being, President Erdogan, a Sunni Muslim, has moved the country from a more secular position into an Islamization of the nation.  Such heavy-handed leadership has put them in a position of abandonment by other nations.  In 2016, even Russia and Turkey were at odds after a Russian fighter jet was shot down in the Syrian conflict.

DIVISION AND DESTRUCTION

The Syrian civil war is a key ingredient.  (As of this writing, the United States, France, and Britain are involved in a combined operation in retaliation against Syria for a recent chemical weapon’s attack; missiles were fired at select targets in Syria, including Damascus.)  The Syrian conflict is driving the alliance between Turkey, Russia, and Iran.  Syria has mostly a Sunni Islamic population; however, President Assad and the government are Shiite.  This is why they are in a civil war.  Turkey, being Sunni, has supported the rebels fighting against the Syrian government of Assad.  Iran, on the other hand, is Shiite, so they have supported President Assad in Syria from the beginning.  Iran also uses Syria as a place that allows them to be militarily positioned against Israel, whom they have vowed to destroy.

Islam has a major problem, however, with the division of the Shiites and Sunnis.  Such a division is not a simple denominational difference as in Christianity, but a war of hatred within its doctrine of devils. Many prophecy teachers of today proclaim numerous things concerning Islam’s role in the Last Days.  To their proclamations, I give the words of our Lord Jesus:

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?”

—Matthew 12:25-26

While I do not claim to know the exact fate of Islam, it will be the end of Mohammad’s seemingly great kingdom.  There is a major Middle-Eastern War coming, and it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.  The prophet Isaiah tells us in chapter  17 that Damascus will cease from being a city and become a ruinous heap.  This will most likely be an effect of this war or the days leading up to this war.

Russia and Iran have long been connected, and their ties have grown stronger as we draw closer to Jesus’ appearing.  Therefore, Russia has supported Syria along with Iran.  However, keep this in mind, Russia has no alliance with Islam, Sunni or Shiite.  Russia has other intentions that God has put in her heart.  This leaves Turkey as the odd man out, until now.

GOD’S HAND IN GOVERNMENTS

Allow me to stop here and give a couple of Scriptures dealing with God’s authority over governments.  You can see He certainly moves the pieces as He wills, according to His plan.

And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.   —Daniel 2:21

They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.   —Daniel 4:25

For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.     —Revelation 17:17

The Father puts government leaders in position; He has rule over the governments, and He puts in their hearts to fulfill His purpose.  Not all men are saved; there will be wicked men who go to hell, which is very sad.  Notice the Scripture does not say that God put wickedness in their hearts, but that He can control it to accomplish His plan.

Back to Turkey:  Another entity in the Syrian conflict is the Kurds who, with the support of the United States, fight alongside the rebellion against Syria. (The Kurds are like the Palestinians, a people without a nation.)  While Turkey supports the fight against Syria, they have had problems with the Kurds and have long seen them as a terrorist group against their nation.

TURKEY SUBMITS

The international community has almost abandoned Turkey, which means their economy and resources have been affected.  Since mending fences with Russia over the fighter jet incident, Turkey has started to look to them for support.  They have purchased missile defense systems from Russia and, with the help of Russia, are building a nuclear power plant. But nothing is free. Turkey is starting to wain in their support for the rebellion against Syria.  This pleases Russia very much as they can tell they have gained influence over Turkey.  Turkey also likes the fact that Russia and Iran will help them with the Kurdish issue.  These three countries have become the major players in the Syrian War solution, each having summits in their own countries; the next summit will be in Iran and will also address ending the conflict.

GOD’S PLAN FOR RUSSIA AND HER ALLIES

This brings us biblically to Ezekiel 38.  Russia (or Magog) is the chief player in this chapter. They find themselves heading up a great alliance of nations that will come against Israel. Within that alliance is Persia (now known as Iran) and Togarmah (known today as Turkey).  There are others, and Russia already has influence over them—Turkey was the last holdout.  The following are verses to consider in all these events:

I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.

—Ezekiel 38:4

Back in 1953, Russia was turned around and hooked in the jaw during the Suez Canal conflict.  They were led out of the far north and brought into the Middle East where, today, they have great influence due to their growing military ability.

“Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them.”  —Ezekiel 38:7

Today, Russia is preparing itself and grooming its allies for a big event.  Russia is also acting as a guardian for these nations over whom they have won influence.  This is evident in their relationship with Iran and Turkey:

[Russia] to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land. —Ezekiel 38:12

This Scripture speaks of the purpose of Russia and her allies’ attack for Israel’s livestock and goods. Watch in the coming days as more and more distress on Russia’s economy begins to happen. The recent assignations in England, carried out by Russians, have started a new divide between themselves and many countries in the world.

THE CURRENT SEASON

Israel is the one place that is again flowing with milk and honey.  They have the technology and ability to produce food that will feed much more than their population. Russia is very aware of this.  As a matter of fact, the Israeli agricultural department is helping Russia to create new, highly advanced dairy farms.  This is giving the Russian government more insight into how valuable Israel and her technology can be to them.

With Scripture pointing to this attack on Israel and the specific timeframe of seven years surrounding it, the attack on Israel must be one of the first events of the Tribulation Period—occurring at the release of the red horse rider (the man of war) who rides throughout the Tribulation Period.  Let me remind you that the Body of Christ has already been removed from the earth at this time.

In preparation for these times, our lives must remain godly, and we must be earnestly looking for Jesus’ appearing.  We must also be wise and win souls.  Don’t let the world around you get you off course.  God’s plan is in action.  We take our place in that plan by walking in faith and being a doer of the Word.

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

—Jeremiah 29:11, MSG

Your most needed prayers and financial support make ministers like me go! We will always accomplish more when we work together.  May God bless you all in abundance according to His Word.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (I  Thess. 5:23).

Born Again?

You must be born again to go to heaven. Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." To do this all you have to do is call on the name of Jesus. When you BELIEVE in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord you will experience the new birth.
