Greetings in the NAME of Jesus, the one by whom YOU are NAMED! We who are born-again believers have been given a name, and that name is Jesus. He is alive and dwells in us, Hallelujah! We have just celebrated Easter, the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Because He lives, we live! God the Father loved us so much that He “gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
If you will only believe in His sacrifice and call on Jesus’ name, you will be saved. He is our only hope in the world we live in today, and our only chance to see a better place, see loved ones again, and live here on this earth with joy. However, it’s so much more than heaven and too much to tell you about here. But fear not! He has given you an instruction book we call the BIBLE: Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.
The Bible tells you what is available “IF” you will be obedient to His Word. This obedience is not to meet great demands created by God, or else. The obedience is to keep you from perils created by your enemy. He is the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Obedience to the Word puts you under the covering of a loving God and allows you to receive His goodness and live an abundant life. This is your inheritance and what Jesus came to provide for you.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together. —Romans 8:16-17
If you are a joint-heir then everything that God gives to Jesus is available to you. Last month I wrote about authority and words, which is something that has been given to you. The authority comes from the name we inherited. We were given that name because of what Jesus did on the Cross. It has nothing to do with what you or I have or haven’t done, so don’t get caught up in your past actions. Simply humble yourself, stop those actions, and start acting like Jesus by being obedient.
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. —Philippians 2:8-10
You see, when we are in Christ (the anointing or presence of God) and walking after the Spirit (striving to live like Jesus), we have His authority in His name. I am not saying we are Jesus or “the” Christ, but I will say we can continually strive to follow the example He gives us in His Word. When we do so, Jesus is right there within us to anoint us and make us Christ-like, allowing us to use His name, authority, and power.
The name “Christian” comes out of the Scripture: “And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26). If you read the verses before you see the hand of the Lord was upon them, and the grace of God was seen. The grace of God is God’s power. I want you to see there is power in the name of Jesus, and that name has been given to you and me.
In the book of Daniel, Judah (God’s people) were captured by the Babylonians. Certain children were taken into King Nebuchadnezzar’s palace. They were from the royal family, princes, and others without blemish and well favored by the people. The king wanted the “crem de la crem” of the youth to be raised up to serve him and be a liaison to the rest of the Jewish people, which would allow him to rule with ease (Daniel 1:2-4).
These exemplary individuals included Daniel, Hanania, Mishael, and Azariah—all young, most likely teenagers. By taking them from their kingdom, it was the king’s plan for them to be in authority in his kingdom, so their names were changed to ungodly Babylonian names: Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Abed-nego, and Meshack. Nebuchadnezzar was trying to change their destiny by changing their names, which contradicted their God-given names. Remember God says, “If My people who are called by My name . . .” (II Chron. 7:14). When Jewish people chose names for their children, God influenced the choice. Think about it, with Abram’s name being changed to Abraham, and Gabriel proclaiming Mary’s Son to be named Jesus, the Lord has had a hand in naming His people.
If you have been born again, Satan wants to change your name. If you’re not, he wants to keep you from ever receiving the name of Jesus. He will not call you by your God-given name. I recall hearing someone say that Satan will call you by your sin, not your name. Oh, how this is true. Satan will call you a drunk, loser, druggy, troublemaker, thief, gossiper, cheater, pervert, liar, adulterer, etc. He will call you by a name of sickness: cancer, coronavirus, pneumonia, arthritis, depression, bipolar disorder, bad blood, or any illness you can imagine or experience. All sicknesses have a name; if one doesn’t, doctors will give it one. They may want to name it after you, like Lou Gehrig’s disease. DON’T LET THEM NAME A DISEASE AFTER YOU! You are a CHRISTIAN! You have the anointing that breaks the yoke of sickness and disease!
The devil will also call you names by trying to tell you that you are worthless, stupid, unable, poor, etc.—that you have missed it too many times and that there is no hope for you. With these tactics, he will try to draw you out of the kingdom of light into the kingdom of darkness all the days of your life. But say “NO,” because SATAN IS A LIAR! Don’t let him change your name! Don’t listen to him. He tries to do it slowly. He tries to get you to call yourself names other than Christian (anointed ones with the power of God).
You can and must hear the Good Shepherd’s voice; it is speaking from the Scriptures every minute of every day. You must go to His Word, you must diligently seek Him, and He will reward you with abundant life removing fear and giving you joy overflowing.
These are dangerous times with darkness covering the earth and great gloom over the people (Isaiah 60:2-3). If you do nothing, you will be sucked in. But there is light, so RUN TO THE LIGHT! Run to the truth. There is only one way, one truth, one life, and that is Jesus the Word of God. NO ONE ELSE! ONLY JESUS—ONLY ONE WAY!
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. —John 14:6
You can get nothing from God the Father unless you go by Jesus, nothing!
It’s so important that we know and tell others what God has called them and us. Some people are going by a name given from the devil. They need to hear a new name; they need good news; people need the Gospel. In August, we will be preaching the Gospel here in Nashville via the Impact America Crusade with Tim Sutton Ministries. Prophecy & Promises is coming alongside Evangelist Sutton for this crusade and another in Nabb, Indiana during October.
We would like you to be a part of these crusades. We can use believers for the ministry of helps and finances, which are a big part of these crusades. Never forget prayer, much prayer!
The crusade draws people in by giving away gift cards, appliances, bill pays, prepaid cell phones, and cash; this is the bait. Fish come for bait, and we are fishing for the souls of men. Salvation is free; however, it takes money to get that message out to the people. We want to give away over $1,000 worth of gifts a night, which is $6,000 in giveaways for the two events. There is also the cost of travel, food, location and equipment rental, and flyers. No matter the amount of your gift, it will be multiplied in the hands of God.
We will reach the unchurched with praise and a powerful Word about the goodness of God with an opportunity to accepted Jesus. You can help Jesus change someone’s name and affect the Kingdom of God forever. Please contact me so you can find out more.
I do not usually ask for finances, even though they are always needed in ministry. However, I will be doing so until this assignment is completed. I’m believing for people to commit to a monthly gift of $20 until October, or a one-time gift of $140, to impact these communities. A gift of any amount can help save a soul, so give as your heart desires. I have seen firsthand the amazing results of these campaigns. If you would like to give to these meetings specifically, please indicate “crusades” with your check.
Thank you for your continued prayers and regular financial support for this ministry. You make a difference that only God may know until we get to heaven. You know, we are on our way to heaven! Michelle and I continue to pray that God blesses you and watches over you all the days of your life.
